This week I find myself asking the question, Is there an obsession with Michelle Obama’s ‘arms’? Michelle O’s decision to wear sleeveless dresses and gowns to formal events, and in her official White House portrait has created quite a stir across the globe…What’s your take on it?….
Does she have a flawless fashion style that transcends her role?…. Should she be able to wear what she wants?…. Or is she committing a First Lady faux-pas by not dressing appropriately for the business at hand?
When Donatella Versace saw Michelle O’ in the outfit above she said, ‘The First Lady looked beautiful. It was so great to see a President’s wife in a hot pink dress, a jewelled necklace with a pink flower and purple eye shadow. Great hair, great make-up — this is what we want to see – confidence’. Is it?
So let’s hear from you is she a fashion forward First Lady affecting the stuffy world of politics in a positive way ? Or a fashion flop of a First Lady with no head for politics?…
Lady P’s Versace jeans suit caused great debate, which is still raging…when she wore it to Parliament. Is Michelle O’ dress sense in any way comparable to Lady P’s decision or not?
Lets have your comments….

I have said it before and I’m saying it again. Michelle O is a fashion forward first lady! Unlike Sister ‘P’ she is always appropriately dressed and unlike many first ladies (to name one, Sarah Brown the British PM’s wife) she has style, elegance and dresses suited to her body shape.
I think the real issue with Michelle’s haters are two fold.
1. She is BLACK, intelligent, attractive and fab!
2. She is BLACK, the first lady, confident and fab!
Keep on doing what your doing girl
Indeed Michelle is flawless in her dress sense. She doesn’t just wear the title of her role but she fits the role with grace and elegance.
Thumbs up Mrs Obama!
I have mixed views on her sense of style. Whilst her sleeveless dresses are chic, trendy and this attire shows off her well-toned arms, I do not think they are appropriate for every occasion. Might be appropriate for an interview on The View but not for official government business.
Why are people being so Pentecostal about Mrs. Obama’s choice of fashion? She looks fab! She is fab! and there are far more serious issues affecting Jamaica, US and the world that people need to pay attention to.
I say “Mrs First Lady, keep on doing what you are doing. You are FABULOUS, BLESSED and BEAUTIFUL!!!
Michelle has taken some of the world’s best portraits which I have kept on my computer for souvenirs. With makeup, she looks better every day but a close up of her arms shows that they are tough and bony especially her elbows.
She hardly ever dresses appropriately as against our Portia who is always nicely covered up and appropriately dressed, except on the occasion of the jeans suit for parliament. Michelle is a non conformist jet setter.
Michelle’s elbows and wrist knuckles are bony and tough and posterior too pronounced. She can wear more sleeves and girdle up.
Frankly, I don’t see the big deal about Michelle Obama’s sense of fashion. Whether she was a first lady or not, she would be well-dressed and display good taste. Why should it cause a stir that she always dresses the way she does? She is an elegant lady with good taste. It comes naturally that occupying such a prestigious position she would know what is appropriate to wear for each occasion.
Besides I don’t see how commenting on her sartorial taste and her bare arms is going to contribute to giving us a sense of patriotism. self-confidence and a sense of unity to get us out of the quagmire in which we find ourselves.
Surely, there are in our nation women who have just as good a sense of fashion as she does.
michelle obama has awful style… i dont know why people insist on saying otherwise… anyone who would wear this
HAS NO CLUE!!
she is so simple and nice.
