Hi fashionistas, I am travelling the globe and on my journeys I have been hearing some amazing facts… which are strange but true.
Yes, the United States of America has done it again peeps…. the Miss Liberty America pageant which is essentially a scholarship pageant – now has some rather odd requirements.
Participants now need to be CPR-certified (strange but I can live with that), able to converse about historic American documents (cool), and proficient in firearms (whoa).
My surprise was tempered when I read that its founder , Alicia Hayes-Roberts was reported to have said that this pageant was filled with elite, feminine patriots. Yes I am stressing PATRIOTS.
Well, I hope that the day never comes when beauty pageant contestants in the Caribbean are tested on their proficiency with firearms. To me that would be a sad indication of the times we live in.
I would like to continue believing that beauty pageants are intended to celebrate poise, beauty, elegance, charm, intelligence (yes peeps I said it). These pageants should continue to allow the contestants to create lifelong friendships and memorable (should I say enviable) experiences.
Well what do you think? Do you agree with me? Should I remove my rose tinted glasses? Or do you agree with Mrs. Hayes-Roberts?
Till next time.

LoL..its probably a joke..but maybe its a way to keep judges from screwing up..knowin that contestants are proficient in firearms?? haha..God bless america..strange place indeed…
Why not? These pageants help to empower women so why not encourage them to be proficient in firearms- that would be an added skill which could save their life.
one need not look far beyond the pageants’ name of Miss Liberty America to get the true intent here. come on now @shaz, think of the founder Mrs. Hayes-Roberts invoking the word PATRIOT and realize what the american landscape has become with the likes of mama grizzly Sarah Palin….on the prowl ! fix our glasses and get with the new poise, beauty, elegance, charm, and intelligence ha, ha, ha,
