Since the economic squeeze shows no sign of letting go, families have had to ‘downsize’ their vacation plans. I have always been a believer of the idea that if we enjoy Jamaica then we will be more willing to protect it.
Of course, the cost to stay at some resorts makes them unreachable for the average Jamaican. However, some hotels offer special rates for locals during the holiday season. These preferred rates allow us to enjoy the same benefits as our foreign friends.
There are so many activities to explore, such as water-surfing and scuba-diving just to name a few. For the less adventurous there are ‘tamer’ activities to experience.
So why not try vacationing at home this year? Just think, no passport or visa required and less travel time!

Good idea, I love to travel but in the past few years it seems the fun is gone.
I ashamed to say I have never been to Dunns River, but I have stay in some of the resorts.
I always vacation elsewhere, but for my birthday this time around I think I’ll look into local fun I can enjoy.
I love recitals, operas, plays and piano music, I am one of the non swimmer Jamaican LOL not a beach person.
They should bring back the specials for locals and hopefully some ppl have matured and others no longer have sticky fingers when they use towels, utensils, sheets etc as were reported before
I agree Jo we need to encourage the hotels to give more specials to locals!
