I thought the price increase announced by the cement company recently seemed a bit harsh, especially when it came on the heels of other companies trying to relieve the assault on consumers’ pockets during these hard times.
I was surprised to read the headline, ‘Cement Company Flounders’ in an article published in The Gleaner August 6, 2010.
Well maybe I was not totally unprepared. My philosophy is ’do good to others and good things will happen to you’. It’s not highly original or foolproof but sometimes when you help others, the blessings can overflow to you. In this case consumers desperately needed help to manage high costs.
Despite the fact that there are many factors that caused the company to face challenges, it seems to me that maybe it would have benefited from an upsurge in local construction. Of course who can afford to build with increased costs? There lies the answer.
So what do you think about it? Check out the rest of the article at

I say god is working in mysterious ways!.. some people or company don’t understand that more is less and less is more!.. some of us are so greedy that such philosophy escape us!…
I hope they learn a lesson from this!…
From how things looks this will be another “divestment” opportunity pretty soon.
Here is the order, if you have not been able to figure it outL
“Lack”
“Rundown”
“Depreciation”
“Failure”
“Waste”
“Rework”
“Long-Delay”
“Deeper-Restriction”
“More-Decline”
“Mash-up!”
“In-debit”
“Litigation”
“Bankruptcy”
“Buy-out”
“Sold-out”
“Ruin”

The Cement Co. has killed the GOOSE that laid their GOLDEN EGG. So did Ferson: but Fersan quickly realized what was happenning when farmers bawled out and the Minister of Agriculture heard their cry. All of a suden fertilizer went from $8000.00 a bag to $3600.00 per bag. The increases by Cement oo. cannot be dealt with. Thank God for the importers of cement. However they should not be of concern as their export buisness seems to be booming. I wonder if the export prices are being subsidized by OUR OVER-PRICE cement?
Well Bob hopefully they do learn that helping consumers ultimately helps their bottom line!!
The Company is the “Master” and the Consumers are “SLAVES” that is the bottom line. The only solution is emancipation and that is called competition.
Last time I checked we are the ones who keep them in business!
