Let’s face it, times are so hard that a lot of things we previously enjoyed doing have taken a backseat. This includes having lavish parties for our loved ones. As a result, a number of people have had to miss out on celebrating life’s milestones because of limited funds.
The most popular parties at this time of the year are usually graduation parties. Parents who struggle to find the funds to cover all their bills might wonder how they will be able to break the news to their children that after five years at school, they will have to walk away without any celebration. In fact, some do not even have the funds to attend their child’s graduation ceremony.
So what’s the solution?
Well bills have to be paid but there must be some adjustment to the budget that will allow for a celebration.
I have discovered that just a few things can really add to the atmosphere of a party without breaking the bank.
Location
House parties are affordable but they can lead to a lot of cleanup and might not be attractive to a younger crowd. Why not check out parks or other recreational areas where your teenager can relax with friends?
Reuse/Recycle
To save on decorations try to reuse balloons, pepper and crepe paper to create an original effect. Often others might have decorations that you can borrow instead of purchasing new ones.
Get Crafty
Reach out to that innovative person you know and get them to create unique designs to display at the party for your guests. They can also create banners and gift bags that are sure to delight your guests.
Entertainment & Food
Arguably, these two areas are the most expensive. What about a ‘basket party’? This means everyone will bring an item and contribute to the party. Simple home prepared meals are often cheaper to make than trying to buy fast food specials for your guests.
Do you have any talented friends? They can entertain the guests with singing, dancing or drama.
So will you be planning a party on a budget? Let me hear from you!
