Deals vs Poor Customer service!

Author : teriann

We all like saving money.

In fact I have been known to go to great lengths to secure a deal. Even if it meant parking my car and walking to the store, I was willing to do so if it meant I would be going back home with items that would have cost more elsewhere.

There are however deal breakers that once present prevent me from going after that elusive sale. The first turn off I have is poor customer service. If you are in the business of selling a product, the customer is basically your bread and butter so it makes sense to treat them with respect.

Unhappy Customers

If the customers are unhappy at how they are treated then despite the money they are saving they will be tempted to shop elsewhere. I decided to go on a little expedition to find out which stores treat their customers the best.

Ironically I discovered that the lower the prices were the worse the customers were treated. I encountered store clerks who were so busy having their own conversations or on their phones that they hardly paid the customers any attention.

They had no idea of the price of the items selected and when the tag did not reveal the size of the garment I was often told to just try on the item in the store without going to a fitting area.

I found that while the prices were good, a number of persons were rummaging through discount bins without any assistance and I felt that there could have been a more organized approach.

“Lady dat too small fi yuh!” was just one of many remarks made by the sales clerk to one of their customers. I was a bit taken aback at the lack of respect for the customer’s feelings as she dejectedly replaced the item she had secured.

It was not all bad news however as I secured several items including a blouse and short set for only $600.00 which would have cost much more at another store.

So what is the verdict?

Love the deals ditch the poor customer service!

What’s your take? Let me hear from you!
