Decorating on a budget!

Author : teriann

It’s summer and you might feel the urge to give your home a new look. The only problem with your plans is that you have no money. Well instead of just giving up in frustration, there is a way to decorate with little or no funds. Are you not convinced? Here are a few tips to ensure that you decorate on a budget.

Get decorating ideas

The first thing to ensure is that you find ideas that fit your style and space. There are many style magazines and online articles on the subject of decorating and they can help to provide inspiration. After deciding what works best in your space, then comes the hard part making sure that you can afford it.

Start Simple

Decorating does not have to be a complicated and expensive activity. If you want to give any room in your house an added flair, try something green! It has been discovered that having plants in any room lifts the overall effect of the space. Simple green foliage often lasts longer than flowers, and the overall design of a single leaf can make more of a striking effect. It is also much cheaper to buy than flowers!

So try a single palm leaf or a slender flax in a giant vase. It has simple yet modern appeal. In your kitchen, add a small herb garden to your windowsill to add life to the room. As an added bonus they taste great!

A quick trip to the fabric store provides consumers with another simple way to make a room look as if you spent a lot of money. Fabric is an easy and inexpensive way to combine all the elements of your room.

It can be used to cover headboards, slip covers for sofas and as accents to a room. You can  also combine patterns, styles and different textures of fabric in everything from window treatments to accessories and furniture.

Renew

Instead of buying new furniture you can restore the ones you have with a little tender loving attention. You can bring life back to leather furniture with a little olive oil and make your kitchen chairs new again with a little spray paint and some fabric .

Used Items

Although some persons balk at the idea of using second hand items, there are advantages to these types of purchases. It is important to note that the used items are cheaper and if they need any further work you can further reduce the cost. Some persons who offer home items for sale are migrating and they are willing to take any reasonable offer.

So how do you decorate on a budget? Let me hear from you!
