I know a lot of people who want to help others. They simply do not feel that they have enough funds to donate and so end up not giving anything at all.
Others might feel that they don’t need to give as someone else will donate who is in a better financial position to do so.
Do you give to charitable causes?
Although donations are asked for throughout the year at certain times it seems as if everyone is asking for a donation. Most fund raisers which are well supported are those that allow those donating to enjoy some treat. For example they might purchase a plate of food along with making the donation to the charity.
Options to Give
If you want to donate to charity you might feel as if you need to have a sizable donation to be successful. While it is true that the size of your donation directly correlates with the number of people you are able to help, you don’t have to be a millionaire to make a significant difference; even small donations have the potential to drastically improve an individual’s quality of life.
There are hundreds of non-profit organizations that you can choose to give to, and the process of selecting which organization to support can feel intimidating. There are no shortage of organizations that need help so it will be likely be difficult to choose just one.
The important thing to remember is to ensure that the organization is a reputable one and your money goes to where it will do the most good.
There are often tins available in pharmacies and supermarkets and they invite patrons to donate their spare change to the charity indicated on the label of the tin.
Take Precautions
Although you might be feeling generous, ensure that the donations are not being elicited by those who are not authorized to do so. Often persons are seen walking with cards with which they claim they are collecting money on behalf of teams or organizations but really it’s just for their benefit.
So ask questions before you donate to determine the legitimacy of the cause.
Consider as well that instead of giving money you can also offer your time or expertise to those in need.
Remember that before donating, you must ensure that you have made allowances for the donation in your budget, if not you might be the next charity case!
So do you give to charity? Let me hear from you!

I donate to Public Television, political or social causes, or religious groups except those who stick to the old time religion as is. I prefer to set up automatic monthly payments in small amounts of $5 -$10 a month.
