Let’s Clear the air!

Smoking is one of those really annoying habits.

It seems to me that Jamaicans smoke a lot more than they used too!  Almost everywhere I go these days someone is smoking.  Now I don’t smoke and I would like to keep it that way, so if you have to light up, why not do it privately?

What can be done to protect non-smokers like me who want to live in a smoke free environment?

Well I heard some encouraging news that a law could be introduced here in Jamaica to ban smoking in public places.  Now I know everyone has the right to decide if they want to smoke or not.  However, even being around a smoker can cause health problems.  That’s right, second hand smoke is worse than if you were actually smoking the cigarette.

Of course the ban is only being considered in its formative stage but I think it’s a move in the right direction.  Let’s hope it gains momentum and is not just a lot of hot air!

Would you support such a ban on public smoking?

    Terri-Ann.
I think it would be hypocritical to support such a band. even though I don’t smoke!…
I guest you should do some more research and see what is causing cancer from second hand smokes!…
The cigarette companies deliberately add chemicals known poisons in the manufacturing of cigarettes. and that’s what is causing the health problems from second hand smokes!…

What I however would support you on. if you should so desired, is to have a total band on cigaretts in the manner they are produce now.

    meaning with these added chemicals!…
unless if the manufacturers can just take the tobacco and simply cut it up and package it as natural as it come. then I would say band cigarettes and legalize weed. because weed have health properties!..
