Is this a deal? A shopper contemplates the price at Smart Woman located on Constant Spring Road copyright@2010 Teri Ann Paisley

80 % off! Everything must go!

Stores often use this and other expressions to attract customers.  Especially at this time of year stores pull out all the stops to convince shoppers that they are getting a deal.

Are these really deals or just gimmicks designed to boost sales?

Well there are deals out there but the wise shopper will check the quality of the items on sale carefully. Sometimes they have been on the shelves for a long time and may have sustained some damage.

After checking the amount of discount offered, be sure that the original price was not overrated in the first place.  That would mean the discount is really what the item should have been sold for originally.

Also bear in mind that some stores sale items are non-refundable.  So be careful about ’shoppers’ remorse’.

Of course there are deals to be had if you search hard enough! Happy shopping!

Where do you go to find deals?
