The American debt crisis – How are we affected?

Author : teriann

When America sneezes, we here in Jamaica catch a cold. So should we be concerned about their downgrade of credit rating by the agency Standard and Poor’s?

Well before we ignore their problems remember that we are closely linked to our Northern neighbours.

Tourism and exports are very susceptible to changes to the American economic landscape. Simply put if they have less funds then we have less funds.

So is it all gloom and doom? Well I am no financial analyst, but it makes sense to put plans in place so that if the country does suffer from a second recession then we are prepared. No more hiding our heads in the sand as if what happens elsewhere does not affect our small island.

What are your thoughts? Let me hear from you!

Onli if we could have some honest coragerious politicians who would tell the country the truth that as much as we are in the middle of the ocean, we are not a island onto ourselves when it come to economical activities!, We depend on others for most of our livelyhood. and especially the united state through tourism and other sectors!..

I hope that Mr Shaw will take heed and deal with our finance in a prudent manner , all politicians should cut out the corrupted practices of handing tax payers money to their friends through unaccetable contracts that are bloated !. just because they want vote and money later in their campaings!.
