CMRC Round 2: Team Jamaica faces tough opposition in Barbados

Author : cmunroe

The Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) is a three-pronged fork. Three battles, involving 3 countries (Jamaica, Barbados and Guyana), fought on 3 circuits, but, 1 war! In most competitive endeavors, playing ‘at home’, tips the scale in favor of the home-team and usually, extraordinary effort is required to nullify that advantage. Ask the Miami Heat and prepare for the horror story!

Team Barbados, the surly guest, scoffed at Jamaica’s home-court advantage. At Round 1, in May at Dover Raceway, Team Jamaica missed a few critical gears and failed to run away with all the silverware. A lot was left on the table and Team Barbados gladly obliged. So heading into this weekend’s Round at Bushy Park, Barbados, Team Barbados leads the country championship and with additional firepower being provided by Roger and Barry Mayers (Ford Focus and Suzuki SX4), Team Barbados is definitely in the driver’s seat.

David Summerbell Jr.

Team Jamaica representative, David Summerbell Jr, is the defending drivers’ champion. David excelled at Round 1. He was served well by his trusty comrade – TA1 (Mitsubishi Evo VIII). In Barbados, he will be surrounded by Bajan and Guyanese insurgents, but, we anticipate that he will access his well-honed race-craft and apply the appropriate points-paying strategy.

Team Jamaica’s drivers include: David Summerbell Jr, Peter Rae, Andre Anderson, Dean Shaw and George Bayley. We wish them all the best!

I would love to see the Ford Focus at Dover!
