For reasons my mom grasped with HID clarity, reading was an integral part of my daily diet. It was consumed in excessive quantities. I was legally obese in the reading department. Age occasionally teaches wisdom. It is not compulsory. Like fine wine, wisdom has an acquired taste – you could be as old as Methuselah, but as silly as a worker bee about to discard its life in defence of a queen who is oblivious to its (the worker bee’s) existence. But let me stay on point.
An act my childish ignorance detested, has mutated into an insatiable passion, which has delivered benefits of invaluable measure. Thanks to my exploratory readings at my vacation hideaway – Barnes and Noble – I met Active Autowerke.
As my eyes and fingers assaulted an innocuous copy of Bimmer magazine, I saw a story which made mention of Active. Futher interrogation revealed that the outfit was based in Florida and it was founded by Jamaican brothers, Mike and Karl Hugh. The hint was obvious – a Jamaican owned BMW tuning shop in Florida – a visit should be arranged!
I called the office number. I informed the gentleman on the other end who I was and what I was interested in. Essentially I wanted to take a few pics of a tuned machine, the facility, etc. and ask a few questions. My interest was still being outlined when he stated – “I have one set up and ready for you right now!”
GPS led me to the BMW powerhouse and the moment I stepped through the office door, blatant hospitality and accommodating warmth, permeated the conversations I had with Federick Hugh, Karl Hugh and the other members of staff I met.
I have always loved the BMW M3 and now that I know where a reputable, performance supported facility exists, I can see myself Actively pursuing a title for an Autowerked version of man’s Ultimate Driving Machine!
