Based on the closely fought, rain-enhanced duels which revved to the fore at the Easter Carnival of Speed in April, motor racing fans had more than enough subject matter to guarantee the existence of heated debates during the brief pit-stop between Round 1 and Round 2 of Circuit Racing season at Dover Raceway.
One incident which inflamed individuals with mindless rage was the ‘racing incident’ involving Mandeville’s playboy, Alan Chen and the 2011 Drivers Champion, Kyle Gregg. After all that I have seen and heard about the incident, what is abundantly clear, is the fact that, for reasons known or unknown, Kyle squandered a comfortable lead and allowed a possessed, fast- charging, merciless sniper, Alan Chen, who spun-out earlier, to lock him in his sights.
Kyle, apparently subdued by a tranquilizer, failed to react soon enough to Alan’s F1 pace and was forcefully kicked to second when Alan out-foxed him and went to the front.
When he eventually arose from his slumber, it is my view that Kyle, still frightened by the reality that he was previously blind to, opted for, arguably, an inadequately conceived, Kamikaze-type move. And the rest they say is history.

Alan’s car sustained major damage. Will Alan’s machine be ready for this weekend? I spoke to Alan on Thursday and when asked if the machine will be ready, his response was – “The car is being prepared as we speak. It is being sprayed right now!”
According to Alan, he got the much needed financial input from his sponsors recently and as such, time has not been his best friend. But, despite the machine being “in pieces” (Alan’s words), he assured me that with his main mechanic – ‘Budu’ directing the work schedule, the machine will be ready, early enough, to allow him to squeeze in testing before Saturday!
Alan and the machine.
The machine.
When asked – What can fans expect from Alan Chen this weekend? In his usual, relaxed, tone, Alan replied ” I will try to perform the same, if not better”. His competitors should be concerned!
So, Alan, Budu and the Honda-motivated, Toyota Starlet, will be at Dover Raceway this weekend. Will you be there?
Alan Chen would like to thank the following sponsors – Top Loaf Bake Shop, Pave-Con Construction, Innovative Parts Solution, Impact Industrial and RPM Auto.
Big up ‘Budu’ – lead mechanic!
