Qualifying to determine starting positions for the races scheduled to drive proceedings during the Caribbean Invasion race-meet, scheduled for Sunday, May 27 is now history. The machines (race cars) are hopefully resting as I type, but they will be awakened in a few hours, afterwhich they will, like the gladiators in Spartacus, enter the arena and chase glory.
Through feats, characterized by speed and reliability, they will not only capture the trophy and the champagne, but in the case of the competitors vying for top honors in the CMRC, the machines will allow Team Jamaica to beat ‘bad mind’ out of our unfortunate neighbors!
As promised, Alan Chen was in the building.
Nuff Respect – to the team responsible for preparing the machine.
The most significant event which unfolded for the day, saw David ‘King’ Summerbell Jr reclaiming what some may argue is rightfully his – the lap record. The previous entry has been erased and the new lap record, arrived at courtesy of an improved TA1, is a blistering 1:17.735!
TA1 being examined before it rips asphalt.
Consultation is important to improve performance.
Pleased with his performance, the King reflects on his accomplishment.
As soon as the sun removes night and introduces day Dover Raceway will be transformed into a beehive of activity. The Caribbean Invasion promises to be exciting. See you there!
