I will keep it simple. If you did not attend the race meet at Dover on Sunday, you missed what might possibly go down as the best event at Dover for 2012. The races in the various classes were more competitive than the 100m showdown at the National Stadium recently.
Driving ability and well prepared machines came and delivered. The attendance/ticket sales on Sunday will not fatten the bank book, but, the drivers and teams who participated ignored that fact. They at no time lost sight of their mission. And for that speed-induced commitment, we are thankful. I enjoyed thoroughly the battles waged!
Here are a few of the stars/machines which made their teams proud and entertained with a ‘foot to the floor’ mentality that we endorse without a moment’s hesitation.
Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg held P1 in his class like his sponsorship depended on it!
Marck Carey’s machine finally completed several laps.
Heath Causwell and the ‘Pretty Blue’ built Subaru are becoming a formidable team.
Alan Chen – is there anything else to be said about Alan’s exploits with this little machine?
I told you before the race-meet to look out for Chiney Dolly. She did not disappoint!
Andre had several obstacles to deal with but he rose and entertained – as usual.
The ‘King’ sits comfortably on the throne and with his main rival, Doug Gore absent, he had a day at the beach!
Many did not see this moment so I will tell you about it. Doug Gore could not stay away from the grid. He went next to David’s machine and assumed the - start of a 100m race position – Start – Set – Go! They all had a good laugh afterwhich he greeted members of Summerbell’s team. A real star – Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore.
