If you are a MotGP fan you will remenber the classic, epic, cut-throat battles that rocked the MotoGP rounds, as teammates, rivals and apparently bitter enemies, Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, would go for the kill-shot to determine which of the two would climb the top step of the podium.
The competition betweeen the teammates was a no-holds prohibited affair and it was not uncommon to see fairings, foot-pegs and other components of the Yamaha machines coming together as they tried to outdo each other. We had a wonderful time watching and hopefully contests which mirror the first stint will return in 2013.
Stoner
So it is official, Rossi will return to Yamaha in 2013, but the move has not recieved defending World Champion Casey Stoner’s approval. In an interview with MCN, it has been reported that Stoner criticised Rossi and his crew chief Jerry Burgess. Essentially, Stoner stated that at the outset, Rossi and Burgess suggested that they could transform the Ducati machine and create a race-winning and championship-claiming machine. Rossi’s results thus far are miles away from what they (Rossi and Burgess) indicated they would achieve.
According to the report, Stoner said “I think he’s (Rossi) eating enough humble pie at the moment” .
Stoner’s accomplishments aboard the Ducati are noteworthy, with the most significant being the championship he won with them in 2007. Rossi, in 27 races with Ducati since 2010, has only 2 podiums to show. In my view, Casey Stoner has a geniune issue. So, if you are one of those persons trying to determine who is the better rider – Stoner or Rossi, you might want to look at what both riders have achieved at Ducati.
Stoner hurled more mud, when, according to the report, he said, ‘Valentino obviously doesn’t want to push limits and ride a bike that is not perfect’.
What do you think about Rossi’s return to Yamaha? Do you agree with Stoner?
Lorenzo
Incidentally, Lorenzo leads the 2012 championship with 225 points, 18 points ahead of Pedrosa and Stoner who rides in 3rd, with 186 points, will skip this weekend’s round in Brno as he heads to Australia to deal with his ankle injury. Is this the end of Stoner’s championship defense?
