Circuit Racing: What do you think about Mark Maloney’s ‘new’ RX3?

Author : cmunroe

Technological insurgents are restricting my ability to create a picture-based profile of the various iterations of Mark Maloney’s RX3 at Dover Raceway. I can think back, however, to the first time I heard about the machine and the indelible mark it left on my eardrums, when I heard it for the first time, at the track. I will keep it simple – I was in awe when I heard it thundering along the start-finish straight, its signature 20B wail echoing therapeutic melodies as it infused mechanical harmony into a usually mundane environment . If there was a moment in time when my soul was transformed by a race-car, that was it.

But, motor racing, like society, is dynamic, it changes constantly and as the goals and objectives of teams change, their tools of the trade will be affected. As I stated in an earlier blog, I usually look forward to the CMRC Round 1, essentially because it showcases the best machines in the Caribbean and the machines the Maloneys usually bring to battle are indeed awesome machines. I read somewhere that Mark’s machine had undergone surgery and a new direction chosen for the – Watch Me Fly machine.

When I went to Dover last weekend I went to look for my friend (the machine). I saw it, heard it and I will not describe here how I felt. Did you see it? Did you hear it? What do you think about it now? If you have no idea what I am talking about, I will assist. The first video shows in brief the ‘new’ machine and the second shows the ‘old’ machine in action.
