Circuit Racing: Victory is sweet! (ATL Racing)

Author : cmunroe

The Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC) essentially has 2 championships which run simultaneously – Country/Team and Driver. So, each Team aims to win the country championship, but, each driver also has designs on the Drivers’ title inorder to etch his name in the History of Caribbean Motor-racing (the book to be written).

In the build up to the CMRC Round 1 at Dover Raceway last weekend, Team Jamaica/the Reggae Racers presented a unified front, as expected and it was genuine. We were all in full support of the black, green and gold giving it to them! But, do not think for one cotton-picking minute (a very long time), that the rivalries, which have colored our local circuit racing season in brilliant hues, were placed on a remote-like pause or took a Sabbatical. Millicent raised no fool!

On the contrary, each driver within the Reggae Racers outfit was committed to the task of securing victory for Jamaica Land We love, but, it was evident from both actions and verbal pronouncements, that the view was held that success should lay at Jamaica’s feet as a direct result of the effort of one team and not another.

However, do not, for one second, misinterpret my direction. This is indeed racing at its highest level in the Caribbean and absolutely nothing is inappropriate about such a stance! P1 carries a high price – especially when a business is attached to on-track exploits!

Last Sunday, ATL Racing swept the Caribbean floor squeaky-clean at Dover Raceway with their ‘big bad machine’-  DTM Audi TT-R. Their dominance was merciless, it was brutal. Their ace-pilot, Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore is benefiting from additional seat-time and as his comfort level behind the wheel increases, intriguing sessions await us, the greedy viewing public! The team at ATL Racing must still be glowing in the light of their success and it should be abundantly clear, at least to them, that victory is sweet! (click below)

In closing, amidst blaring trumpets from pedestals far and wide, visible and hidden, I will abuse my vocal chords and shout relentlessly, until my voice waves the white flag and crawls towards the exhausted and spent corner – “BIG UP ATL RACING!” – your success has made us proud!
