Drag Racing: End of Year Drags at Jamwest this Sunday!

Author : cmunroe

I got a link from ‘Elle’ (a Jamwest representative) recently informing me about this event. Drag racing has seen a revival in 2013 and the wheels of speed will seek to blast along the 1/4 mile in record time, this weekend, at Jamaica’s only purpose-built drag racing facility – Jamwest Speedway (Little London, Westmoreland).

Machines arriving at Jamwest for an event.

The fact that the circuit racing season ended in October, means that the ‘massive’ from the West and its immediate environs will welcome any official motorsport event which will soothe the speed-dependent soul. Drag racing is still a hugely popular sport and we should encourage all of the individuals involved at the administration level of the discipline.

But – what will actually be on show at this event? Based on what ‘Elle’ said, we will be witnessing, on local soil, machines which are capable of sub-eight seconds elapsed times!

Still the quickest Starlet in Jamaica?

Yes, the usual suspects, who are infected with the pursuit of speed disease, should be in the building assisted by the other ‘sick’ machines from the West-end.

This is Jamaica, but American muscle is definitely in the building.

All the competitors will want to close the year with their best performance and the visitors will want to show the ‘little island boys’ how it is done. And the fact that we are Jamaicans, which reads, ‘ we likkle but we tallawah’, the local contingent will not surrender without lifting clutch and giving them a decent run for their money. Do not worry about whether we have similar fire-power or not – whatever we have, we will give it to them – ‘we no back from no war!’

Machine!

So, if you are a fan, you have been told – at Jamwest Speedway, this Sunday, December 8th, boost, nitrous, n/a and all the other drag racing goodies will be abused, with no regard given to mercy, as drivers chase the elusive low et. Jamwest, December 8th!

Will Mr Young finally complete the 1/4 mile and collect a respectable time-slip?

I was sent these pics by ‘Elle’ and I would be rather unkind if I did not allow you to see them!

Buju’s machine demonstrating furious anger!

The overseas machines which, if all goes well, should roar to sub eights!

Jamwest Speedway, Sunday Dec 8th!
