Speedwest Weekend – Circuit racing meets drag racing at Jamwest this weekend!

Author : cmunroe

The highly anticipated event referred to as Speedwest Weekend, will activate launch control and after the electrifying crescendo of computer-generated pulsating notes, forward motion will be realised and a battalion of speed-infested machines will play host to the desires of the insatiable patrons who will invade Jamwest Speedway this weekend. The event which got off to a stoplight start – it was on at one point (green light) – then off at another point (red light) – is now in full swing! At present, all of the cylinders are firing and that is excellent news. Much to the delight, I can imagine of the organisers who have been working assiduously behind the scenes to make this dream a thrilling reality!

Battle of the Worlds

What will be on the menu? I am glad you asked! This is not a Battle of the Worlds. Instead it is a merger – a corporation – a unified front – harmonious existence – think of it as the allied forces! It is The Best of Both Worlds! Drag racing is still a significant force to reckon with in terms of number of fans and circuit racing has its own undisputed appeal. So, when you transport both disciplines to the same track – one venue – for two days – pandemonium will reign in adrenalin ally!

Only the best of the best will be allowed to ‘cross it’! From the drag racing stables – expect to see machines which are capable of jet-propelled speed – so fast – only a blur will be visible when the green light blinks! And from the circuit racing garage – the cream of the crop in Caribbean motorsports will be present. Substantial firepower from ‘the rock’ will be in the building and they will be supported by similar weaponry from our Caribbean neighbors, Guyana, Cayman and Trinidad.

Despite that fact that unity has been achieved, it should be duly noted that this unity does not extend to on-track activity in the respective disciplines. Bombs, grenades and relentless shelling will be permanent fixtures on the Lords of War  schedule as teams and drivers wage fierce battles in a bid to secure the only position of significance – P1!

So, is this an event you will miss? If you do you will held accountable!

Speedwest Weekend – Jamwest Speedway Feb 28 – March 1!

I intend to visit Craig Lue’s shop. Will the nine seconds ‘Blue Wonder’ resurface to dismantle a ‘certain’ machine? Stay tuned!
