Formula 1:Hamilton – ruthless in Australia!

I have a habit of being the late bird. If you consider yourself even a bystander or a partial-observer of some, if not all things, stamped Formula 1, you would have already claimed the rights to the results of the opening round of the 2015 Formula 1 season!

You, by now, would be fully informed that Mercedes AMG left jaws dragging on the floor as their machines belittled the opposition. A 1-2 finish for the first race of the season must have crossed Toto Wolff’s mind. Did he think it was possible? Did he think the machines were capable of delivering the desired result? Was he hoping it would be accomplished? I could answer all of those questions, but I will give you an opportunity to choose the only answer from the non-existent multiple choice list – YES!

We have a tendency of viewing pre-season testing results with an element of – yeah, sure. Disdain is thrown at testing results because we understand the nature of motorsports. It (motorsports) is poker, with, in this case, turbocharged V6 motors replacing cards in the deck. Mercedes conquered the rules of the game in 2014 and left a yawning gap for the competition to close.

Williams

Pre-season testing gave us the first opportunity to see if the gap experienced a change in the diminishing department. Ferrari showed signs of life. Williams indicated that they will be a minute force to reckon with. Red Bull was hesitant while  McLaren drowned in dismay! Toto smiled.

I am at present worried. If the local Police in Melbourne visited the podium when the race ended and swabbed Hamilton’s hand, chances are he would be out for the remainder of the season! He came out firing from all angles during qualifying and his relentless assault continued to race-day!

Hamilton did not see it fit to cease and desist until the checkered flag greeted his machine and created scenes of jubilation in the Mercedes garage. Hamilton left everyone disoriented, including his unstable team-mate, Rosberg, who while searching for answers to the Hamilton-question, made requests of the team which the 2015 radio-rules do not allow!

In Australia, Lewis Hamilton began his title defense in a manner worthy of a World Champion. His victory left no room for dispute. It was a resounding victory. He was ruthless! But, as I said, I am worried – Did we witness the birth of a serial-victor?

The machines will play their force-fed tunes in Malaysia this weekend!
