Drag Racing: Boost J’ouvert this Sunday!

Inhale………….Exhale………Inhale………Exhale. The exercise is important. You need to be in a relaxed state of mind inorder to process, in a responsible manner, what I am about to divulge. Now that you are settled, I will begin.

I was reminded that Drag Challenge #1 grabbed the March 29-spot on the 2015 calender. But, before the machines performed on the concrete stage, on the 29th, a Test and Tune session was scheduled for Sunday – 22nd – 12pm-5pm. I went to Test and Tune.

Thinking that we were operating using ‘Jamaican-time’ I traveled at a learner-driver’s pace to get to Vernamfield. When the tyres of my faithful Mitsubishi met Vernamfield’s built-for-speed concrete, my eyes and my brain conspired and I understood that I should be surprised. As I got closer, the picture adopted crystal-like properties. It was a few minutes after 1pm, but there was already a line of machines proceeding to the ‘tree’. Test and Tune was in full swing! And guess who was the ‘trigger-man’ for the ‘tree’? Mr. Cross all the Ts and Dot the Is himself – Stephen Gunter!

NDRC

It was obvious that for 2015, the NDRC means business – I smiled. If you are a fan, you should be aware. But, if you are still operating as a hermit would and you chose to exist in a self-imposed exile, but, being astute, you remain connected via the www, here is an opportunity to drink from the glass of excitement which modern existence allows! On Sunday, March 29th, Drag Challenge #1, which is Round 1, of the 2015 Nestle Supligen Drag Racing Series, will select first gear and when the green light is brave enough to appear, the ground will shake, the vegetation will quiver – inundated with fear – as the speed-possessed machines roar towards record-chasing elapsed times!

Like the atmosphere, carnival is everywhere! We will embrace our Caribbean culture and rejoice when forged pistons gyrate with pleasure, as they express their gratitude for petrol and air! We will leave no spark plug unchecked – Boost J’ouvert hits Vernamfield this Sunday!
