Circuit Racing: Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore confiscates the crown! Part 2

Author : cmunroe

Were you at Dover Raceway on October 19, 2015? If you were not in attendance, you were not missed, but, you missed what some are describing as a meteoric battle, comparable to the life-threatening gladiator battles Rome knew! The debate re where the race ranks in terms of the best of the best, rivaling even the Moodie era, has lost no traction and motorsports fans with countless years of hillside spectator-pride to boost their argument, have laid their cases bare for all to see – they think it was the best race for a very long time at the 1.6!

David ‘King’ Summerbell Jr.

The race which has provided ample discussion points is Race 2 of 3 which involved Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore and David ‘King’ Summerbell Jr. A hero definitely emerged during that race! During Race 1, Summerbell’s TA-1 developed chronic problems. It could be heard sputtering along the start-finish straight on the formation lap – game over for Race 1.

Race 2 was an entirely different story which will be told. Just think, the paddock, during the race, was a  barren, desolate place. Like a scene from Hollywood’s interpretation of the cowboy existence, the paddock was a wasteland – quiet , nothing happening – cars abandoned, parked, silent, waiting for a yet to be determined event. Where was everyone and what was happening?

As stated, the story will be told. But for everyone who was present and saw the previously thought, exceptionally difficult pass, here are 2 questions. Based on where Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore blew the closed doors of Summerbell’s TA-1 – Who do you think wanted victory more? Would it be even remotely possible to pass David Summerbell Jr at the same spot five years ago?

I am on to something but I am interested in what you think!
