Circuit racing season launched at the Pegasus

If the Jamaica Race Drivers Club (JRDC) was a political party it would win elections in Jamaica effortlessly. The JRDC understands the culture and knows how to pamper its members. At the launch of the 2010 Circuit Racing season last Friday at the Jamaica Pegasus, the JRDC facilitated euphoric indulgence with two masterful strokes – FREE FOOD and BAR!

It was a festive occasion, which apart from parading sponsors, was riddled with humorous commentary from individuals who took to the podium.
A jovial but professional atmosphere was maintained throughout the proceedings but, at the end of the launch, potent concoctions of mixed spirits and the seductive aura instilled by the mesmerizing ladies of new sponsor, Turbo Energy drink, were simply too much. Tall racing tales filled the room, the laughter and camaraderie flowed as freely as the spirits did!

Marck Carey

Marck Carey’s carbon fiber monster broke tradition, left the veil of secrecy and came out for the bright lights. I was expecting other machines to strut their stuff but it wasn’t to be, so the monster greedily, but appropriately, gobbled up all the attention.
The monster, vinyl streaked in our national colors relaxed in the therapeutic night air on the ground floor of the Pegasus. The monster has a purposeful poise even when it is motionless and it did create a stir. Comments came from all quarters – race fans, JUTA drivers, guests and curious onlookers who passed by. I will say this, whatever this machine does when it hits the track in race mode and I sincerely hope it performs, Marck Carey is already a winner in my book. To see the end product of a man driven, to literally build his own race car, I have nothing but respect for the brother. Machine me seh!

How do you think the monster will perform at the upcoming Easter Carnival of Speed (April 5th –Dover)? Leave a comment!
