CIRCUIT RACING: DOVER TUN UP THIS YEAR!

Where do I begin? How about starting with the defibrillator. It will be clear soon! Do you know Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg? Have you heard about him? Have you ever seen him drive? Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg, even if he attempted to, could not sidestep his destiny. He was compelled to leap from the springboard and revel in the comfort of the warmth his gene pool provided.

So it was ordained, so it was delivered. Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg, some would argue, is a phenom in local motorsports. And with the support of his family, he has been fortunate enough to direct potent machinery around Dover Raceway. He did so with aplomb and collected several championships along the way. His fans embraced him and his sponsors adored him for what his feats delivered.

But, to those in the know, it became evident that Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg, for whatever reasons, was losing, or lost his appetite for circuit racing. He went soul searching in rallysport and as expected, he excelled also. I spoke to Kyle on numerous occasions, he was excited about rallysport and at one stage, he even indicated that he hoped his sponsors would continue their association when he joined the ‘right over crest’ crew.

I will admit that his disappearance from the Dover Raceway scene was expected, but when he told me that his all-conquering Honda Civic EG was for sale and he intends to focus on rallysport – the writing was on the track – Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg’s circuit racing days were numbered. Fortunately, he maintained a presence during the 2015 season, but not at the level that would be considered the norm for Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg.

Apparently someone fell, their knees slammed into the ground and while cursing their luck, they sent several wishes upstairs to the Master-Architect. One of those wishes contained words, which when read aloud, conveyed a desire to see Kyle Gregg’s return in a triumphant and jubilant manner, behind the wheel of a machine fit to destabilize the monarchy at Dover Raceway!

If you are a non-believer, this might be evidence that prayers are answered! If the rumor mill and reality are conspirators, we will be overjoyed. Because the streets are talking and the wharf elicits gossip which could be deemed treason. But, the accuracy test was submitted and a distinction-type grade was delivered. If what we are hearing and what some have seen are all true, Dover Raceway will be the scene of gargantuan seismic shifts!

Long live the King! We enjoyed ‘Hollywood’s’ DTM revival, but, are we about to realize the changing of the guard? Will a new King emerge in the shape, form and wide beaming grin of an individual who refers to himself as Kylus? We are in election mode and a machine of Radical proportions will make the deciding vote! Can Kyle ‘Speedy’ Gregg provide the defibrillator which circuit racing at Dover Raceway needs!

These questions will be answered and if it was not crystal clear before, it should be now – Dover tun up this year!
