CIRCUIT RACING: THE CARIBBEAN IS AT WAR! JAMWEST SPEEDWAY

Author : cmunroe

Lesson for today. Why do we say -free gift. If it is a gift, is there a cost attached? May continues to be a stimulating motorsports month. And as it comes to a close apparently it plans to go out with a resounding bang. I will address the first event on the agenda.

The CMRC is our uber-motorsports Caribbean event. This is the event which rolls out the best the Caribbean has to offer. Want to see a plethora of luscious machines all capable of bending a lap record into woeful submission? The CMRC has them in abundance!

I have no apology to make. I will support the Reggae Racers with my national bias, but I embrace, with a child’s glee, the thoroughbreds that our Caribbean neighbours are known to introduce to Jamaican soil.

And as fate would have it, all clans concerned – Guyanese, Cayman, Bajan and Trinidadian have intriguing machines which are equipped with unrestricted speed! And to add insult to further insult, but with a rewarding outcome, my preferred machine was included at the last minute – Mark Maloney’s RX3.

MARK MALONEY

Mark Maloney’s machine, I have said before, is a physical, visual, tangible representation of orchestrated speed. This machine is awesome when trapped by the eyes and even when parked, like a leaking faucet, it drips speed! Decibels are associated with sound, but I am yet to arrive at an appropriate description for the notes the machine recklessly emits when the machine pursues prey. That which is invisible, becomes audible and excessively pleasurable in profound ways!

Reggae Racers, I am in your corner, without a doubt, but the motorsports fan in me will salute Mark Maloney’s machine when it lights the fuse and rumbles along Jamwest’s extensive start-finish straight.

REGGAE RACERS

The Reggae Racers are ready for battle. Unfortunately, one of the biggest guns in the squad – David Summerbell’s Barrett M82A1 – will be unavailable for duty. Multiple Champion, David Summerbell Jr, rolled out a new, more aggressive and rather fierce TA1 at Dover Raceway in March. The machine at war renewed hope in TA1 fans who all needed a boost based on what they endured in 2015.

The boost was brief however and the machine is currently battling an ailment which will see it absent from the grid at Jamwest.

The Reggae Racers are not short on firepower though – Doug Gore, Peter Rae, Chris Campbell and others will ensure that the flag is flown with beaming pride. But based on how the stars are currently aligned we might actually be witnessing the passing of the baton to a proven driver who wears the a.k.a. ‘Speedy’!

Kyle Gregg is currently the driver of a Radicalized demon! It made its virgin run at Dover in March and fans got a glimpse of its potential. Potential that is still being realised. Rumor has it that the lap record will be shattered on Saturday and discarded on Sunday!

So Hear Ye, Hear Ye, this Saturday and Sunday there is one place to be – Jamwest Speedway! The Caribbean Invasion!
