Jamwest Speedway played host to a gargantuan battle involving fierce protagonists from several Caribbean shores. That story will be told. But during one of those firestorms a legend of Jamaican motorsports, aboard what may be considered an aging machine, fought a rather valiant bout and shunned an assault which was launched by my preferred RX3.
Mark Maloney’s machine is a modern interpretation of a RX3 transformed to the nth degree. It is a no expense spared, ultimate performance and time-warp speed, victory-oriented machine. Its front splitter is made from kevlar! I say no more.
But, like the only ripe starapple on a rather short tree, observing youngsters collecting stones to claim their prize, Peter Rae remained steadfast, stubborn, resilient and ignorant of the coward’s concept – yield!
Mark Maloney tested the waters on Sunday and realised it was lava!
Peter Rae’s attitude in battle and his demeanor at the end of the race provide further confirmation of why we race!
