FORMULA 1: ROSBERG VS HAMILTON – TWO SMOKING GUNS – MONACO GP

Author : cmunroe

All the evidence from the Spanish GP was collected and examined by all the forensic scientists available. And even though the conclusions arrived at were justified, I am certain that some of us in the F1 world are still clinging to our own interpretations and our ludicrous version of what we claim are irrefutable facts.

What is certain however, is the fact that Hamilton was overtaken by Rosberg and then he (Rosberg) slowed dramatically afterwards as a result of a self-imposed glitch. When Rosberg tried to regain his lost pace, Hamilton pounced and Rosberg reacted by slamming what, in his view was not even an ajar door!

HAMILTON

Hamilton’s commitment meant that he had already passed the point from which reverse was not an option. The unexpected collision triggered an earthquake which rattled every component which comprised what was thought to be Mercedes Petronas AMG’s impregnable armor!

Verstappen, celebrating 18 years young, accepted the invitation. He trampled giants and rose to P1! I am certain that there were lengthy discussions at all levels of Mercedes’ hierarchy and it will be interesting to see what unfolds on the unforgiving streets of Monaco.

Hamilton, if he was still ignorant, is now more than ever aware, that in Rosberg’s pupils, he is the foe and as such he is an island! In his team there is no we!

Hamilton is a determined chap, but a quick glance of the leader-board will reveal that the defending World Champion is almost two races behind in points – Rosberg – 100 to his 57 –  and with developments on the grid not waiting on him to deliver an Oscar winning act, he might not have as much time as the number of races suggest.

Red Bull earned wings in Spain and is now flying with renewed and invigorated wings. Verstapppen is the new winner on the block .Ricciardo will not submit to the upstart. Vettel’s teamate occupies a closer rung to P1 – Raikkonen – P2 – 68 points. Vettel – P4 – 48 points,  will want to rearrange that fact.

Monaco is a destination which has more mega yachts than people. It is an idyllic retreat for the uber-rich. It  will host the gunfight on Sunday!
