DRAG RACING CHALLENGE #2 – REVISITED – TWO SIGNIFICANT EVENTS! PART 1

Author : cmunroe

Today’s riddle – What happened when the German race-engineer and the environmental scientist collided in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria?

It would be classified as dereliction of duty if 2 rather significant events which appeared at Vernamfield at Drag Racing Challenge #2 were not highlighted. Biologists/scientists, I am certain, will be able to establish a rational account which would explain why we are natural competitors. Humans are driven by an innate competitive energy which, whether we are willing to accept it or not, is present in all aspects of our existence.

If you think briefly of your professional environment – if you are not performing at the levels determined and others are excelling in the same departments in which you have fallen short – your tenure may be compromised. Essentially a roaring competition exists if you intend to retain your employers loyalty and drink from the fringe benefit tree! Life’s lessons are being taught here!

But I digress. Drag Racing is a premiere ego-boosting competition. What I own, build and drive is stupid-fast and it will reduce your antiquated, devoid of speed-enhancing technology tramcar to an also-ran in a race involving two!

My machine is superior and to prove it we will race! The sole aim of a drag race is to determine which machine is faster. And if you compete in a specific bracket – a class bracket based on time, for example the 10 seconds class, the aim is to defeat your opponent at each round and ultimately win the class.

So, you race to win. If you are a competitor – would you celebrate being disqualified? Would you be swallowed with ecstatic waves of rampant jubilation when it is announced that your opponent is the victor? The sane segment of your reckless traits will insist – NEGATIVE – in response to both questions.

But, drag racing, at times is somewhat of an enigma which has a tendency of being fruitful and committed to the propensity of multiplying pleasure despite losing!

RAFFIQUE GOLAUB

Significant Event # 1 – Raffique Golaub qualified in the Maggi 10 seconds class. He eliminated the opposition and revved his crimson-coloured Evo to the final bout. As he paused before battle he listened to that which was being said to him by Team Principal ‘Damage’. ‘Damage’ is by far the most active Team Principal on the grid. He is a permanent fixture at the driver’s door of the machines he prepares as they make their way to the ‘line’.

His instructions do not cease until the door is sealed for lift-off! And when the machine leaves the ‘line’, dependent on its trajectory, he is a picture of abundant gesticulation and vibrant vocal expressions. Raffique’s opponent was Audie ‘Lizard’ Cowan.
