CIRCUIT RACING: WHO WILL BE 2016′S HERO OF SPEED? PART 1

If you were wise and made the decision to attend the Independence of Speed event at Dover in August, you should be still basking in the glow of the deep-seated satisfaction that the event delivered.

There are some among us, who for reasons known only to them, would love to see this glorious sport of ours die a slow and painful death. I saw and spoke to Heath Causewell at the event and I understood what he conveyed.

The drivers and bikers/riders who came out and allowed their machines to be heard must be commended repeatedly. They did not only arrive for an event, they grabbed their machines and displayed scintillating performances.

St Ann and its environs know nothing about the politics that plays out in the confines of the boardroom. They are only interested in the on-track firefight.

And at the Independence of Speed, they got that plus brawta! I can recall several years ago Jamaica’s Honda giant – ATL – held a race-car launch. ATL was throwing its hat in the ring. And what a hat it threw!

A machine that was built with the supervision of Raj Jadusingh was earmarked for Dover duties. Natasha ‘Chiney Dolly’ Chang who is now ring-deep in love’s embrace and who, unfortunately, has parked her helmet, was tasked with the honor of wringing the machine’s rubber around the treacherous 1.6.

That she did with aplomb and the Honda Civic with a meager motor became evidence of the importance of all other things except power! It is a case study worthy of examination.

The man who steered that project is now locked in Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore’s camp and I will be the first to tell you that his addition to that crew has transformed outcomes in ways they might not be willing to admit. I was at Jamwest when a problem developed on-track.

The DTM TT-R is a rocket-ship, but, it is a compact beast. Remove and replace jobs are no simple feat.

But Raj, being a hands-on maestro went to work in unconventional ways. The machine was sorted and returned to wage practice again. He has an impressive track record and the team is significantly more potent with his inclusion.

In August, in TS Race 3, the TT-R and its master – ‘Hollywood’ – were a violent duo! The machine distributed shelling that scoffs at what is in occurrence in Alepo! The TT-R in August-form was arriving at the invincible mark. Will it be achieved in October?
