SUMMERBELL’S IMPOSSIBLE PASS ALONG THE BACKSTRAIGHT!

Author : cmunroe

Are you a member of the unfortunate club? The unfortunate club is comprised of individuals who were not at the Heroes of Speed at Dover Raceway recently. I will not add punitive spices to the wound. We are still in the business of disseminating information so I am duty bound to assist.

But it would be remiss of me to exit these pages without stating the obvious, you missed a stellar event. The contingent of competing machines was rather small when compared to the norm, but competition along the 1.6 had the fans abusing their vocal chords! The fact that crystal punch(rain) appeared and lubricated the track, the interests of the bold and skillful were served – dexterity type, teeth-grinning, lurid slides were evenly distributed!

KYLE GREGG

Mentioned before on these pages, was the continuation of the epic saga – Doug Gore vs David Summerbell vs Kyle Gregg. At the Heroes of Speed, at the track built by an individual who was selflessly committed to the people of Trelawny  - Alfred Chen – a bout of galactic proportions ensued. It would be accurate to state that Kyle had a full plate trying to wrestle with the Doug and David – humble pie he had!

Doug and David, like two wildebeests, trapped in a testosterone-induced, drunken stupor, locked horns! Race 1 was a misfire – David – dnf. But, in Race 2, the now infamous pass along the backstraight materialized. The concept of TA1 gaining, closing on the DTM TT-R and executing a pass along the backstraight before writhing into the chicane, ahead of the TT-R, was, prior to that moment, an impossible prospect.

But the impossible is always achievable by those who defy the structures of mere mortals and we all accept that David Summerbell Jr is the epitome of that which Digicel advocates – Extraordinary!

This is the Heroes of Speed – the Maddmarch Edition!

HEROES OF SPEED 2016

Did you see the pass along the backstraight?
