MOTOR RACING : WHEN SLOW IS FAST!

Author : cmunroe

So, Usain Bolt’s 100m  career cruised to a bronze end. Not what his legion of fans expected, but, for all that he has given to Jamaica and the world of athletics, we have nothing but praise for the Legend who consistently delivered at the times when it mattered most.

THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE

And in the years to come, acceptance of the bewildering outcome will be easier, because we all knew that he was not mentally at the same place he once was and with the untimely passing of his close friend, Bolt’s decision to untie his Puma spikes, was the best one. We salute you Usain – The Fastest Man Alive – Bolt. Thanks for all the solid-gold memories!

Race-car drivers compete with one goal in mind – TO WIN! When that car rolls out to the grid, it becomes White River clear that a winning effort demands the involvement of all the members of the team. What should a driver do when he is in the lead and the crew chief advises him that he needs to reduce his speed and  allow a few cars to pass him?

MARTIN TRUEX JR

Martin Truex Jr was instructed accordingly. He listened. The cars that sped by him drove into fuel trouble and had to take a trip to pit-lane for a splash and go. And Martin Truex Jr ? Because he was trapped in slow, fuel-saving mode, he had an ample supply in his tank to regain and maintain the lead and cross the finish line P1!

Surprisingly, he had enough fuel remaining to facilitate the distribution of scrumptious donuts when the race ended!

MARTIN TRUEX JR WINS AT THE GLEN!

DID YOU SAY BURNOUT?

There are occasions in racing when slow is fast!
