There is no better indicator, except that which Spice offers, that the season is upon us than what is unfolding at Barcelona at present. As I sated earlier, every machine is in the building, devoid of preseason attire and now dressed in battle garb. Yes, we will not see the full arsenal but there is enough fodder to chew on.
Having said that, the status quo apparently remains resolute, confirmed by the time sheets. Motorsports thrive on competitive ferocity and soap opera drama and I am certain that the journalists and analysts are seeking all stones to overturn to extract the most succulent stories.
But, on track is where the rubber meets the road and just as they were prior to Round 1 in 2017, Ferrari and Vettel are making the appropriate noises. Personally, I am still of the view that Lewis Hamilton was rather fortunate that the prancing horse faltered in the final furlong of the 2017 season. Truth be told, Vettel was having a glorious run and then it all went plunging south, powered by NOS!
Will Vettel’s nerve remain intact in 2018? Can he reclaim that which he lost? Does he have what it takes to hunt and slay Lewis? Testing continues. The answers we will all know in a bit!
Coward!
