Immersed in a cathedral of 100-plus blended voices, I watched as Real Madrid took Liverpool to Football University today. Prior to the game, Liverpool’s coach intimated that Real Madrid’s experience at the highest level, could only assist so much and no more. The game the world saw advanced a different argument.
Liverpool’s ‘biggest gun’, Mo Salah was silenced by injury – unfortunate. He was sorely missed from the elite strike force, but, Ramos may argue that Sala was introduced to ‘big man’ football. Real Marid – REAL TEAM!
Ricciardo was never known to be anything like a sloth. On the contrary, the Red Bull ace has a habit of bringing the pain when the Usual Suspects falter. His recent fracas with his teammate, Verstappen, is one he wants to forget quickly and life’s lessons have taught him that misfortune is easily displaced by elevated performance (read victory).
It was evident rather early in Monaco, that Ricciardo was adorned in a no nonsense suit. He displayed record snatching speed during FP and during qualifying, Ricciardo’s rampage flourished.
Ferrari and Mercedes wrestled for the crumbs. Ricciardo – P1, Vettel and Hamilton – P2 and P3 respectively.
Did Red Bull skillfully sidestep Round 2 of the Ricciardo-Verstappen bout?
Will Ricciardo win the Monaco GP? What will Vettel do? Should Hamilton be concerned?
The answers are not far away!
