In motorsports, Formula 1 sits at the top of the totem pole – the head honcho – the boss – the C.E.O. – the one don! And if no one in the motorsports fraternity was adopting the appropriate stance that the coronavirus demanded, what happened in Australia re F1′s season opener provided the template for most events, moving forward.
It is abundantly clear what is at stake here and as such rational, sage decisions must be taken to serve the greater good. Jamaicans are an astute and resilient people. As such our governing motorsports body has taken the requisite steps to halt, at least for now, motorsports events,
It cannot be over-emphasized that public safety is paramount, therefore, at the individual level, what needs to be done to guarantee the well being of everyone should be done, consistently. Protect yourselves, protect your loved ones. And if we all subscribe to the same doctrine, we will not mirror Italy. We pray for all nations at this time.
We love and enjoy motorsports, but nothing supersedes the sanctity of life.
