Will Doug Gore’s new machine end TA1′s reign?

A bruised, humbled but not humiliated David Summerbell Jr. motivated by a string of uninspiring performances, took the advice of long time friend and crew chief Stephen Gunter and bought AMS’ time attack machine (Mitsubishi Evolution VIII – TA1) in 2008.

TA1

If you look in the dictionary that David Summerbell Jr. owns, chances are you will see one word – win. David Summerbell Jr, over the years, has grown accustomed to winning, but, there was a period when the multiple driver champion, was being torn to shreds by team Mobay’s lead act Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore.

Doug and the EvoX

Shortly after its arrival, TA1 put an abrupt end to that sideshow and in the time it takes to downshift for Dover’s Caribrake corner, the roles were reversed. TA1 read the riot act and ripped through Doug’s best efforts.  Doug pulled everything he had out of the team Mobay bus, including the blue and yellow paint scheme but the answer for TA1 remained as elusive as the truth at the Manatt Commission of Enquiry!

Desperate situations demand desperate measures. In 2010, Doug dumped his two Evos in the race cars for sale section while he planned TA1’s demise. He forged a new partnership with ATL Automotive and hopped a flight to Europe in search of TA1’s assassin.

Doug examined what was available and diligently selected the smart bomb he felt would be best able to obliterate TA1 and relegate the TOTAL backed machine to the loser’s circle. Doug chose an ex-DTM V8 powered Audi. It should be here in a week or two and then the games begin. Is Ta1′s reign officially over?
