During the course of this week, I had reason to call the M.A.D man, Xavier Murray. I was trying to locate a black top 20 valve ecu and a friend of mine suggested that I give him a call. When I got through to him – it was a miracle – he gave me a link to someone who had one. Big up Johnny! I got the ecu by courier the following day!
The important bit of the story is this- before I came off the phone with Xavier, I asked him if his cars were ready for Dover. He asked, “Cars that I built, or cars that I tuned?” I told him both. Xavier has played a role in the tuning or preparation of quite a number of cars which will be pulverizing the surface at Dover raceway. The list includes – Kyle Gregg’s Honda Civic, Gary Gregg’s Honda Civic, ‘Big Rat’s’ Toyota Corolla, Teddy Burton’s Honda Civic and several, if not all of the Team Browns Town machines. He proves it repeatedly – he is one of the best at what he does!
On a different note, the season opener of the 2011 circuit racing season has dominated discussions for several months now, ever since it was discovered that Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore was taking any engine/platform necessary to overthrow the King and claim his empire. He inked a sweet deal with ATL Automotive and from that love nest an ex DTM Audi TT was born.
The historians can tell you all that has happened to date re- the launch and testing. What they cannot tell you, is what will happen Sunday during qualifying and on Monday, raceday. But you have the best possible option – you can go to the track and watch it for yourself!
Despite the presence of the Titans (Doug and David), do not lose sight of all the other riders and drivers whose effort make circuit racing the major attraction it is today.
A very special race car! Will it be at the track?
Names not previously mentioned which spring to mind include Allan Chen, Halequin Rodney, Chris Campbell, Andre Anderson, Peter Rae, the Bailey brothers, Peter Jaggon, Nigel Edwards, Heath Causewell, Sebastian Rae, Charles Maxwell and Raymond Donaldson.
Will this machine create havoc in the proceedings?
Motor racing is exciting, motor racing is unpredictable and your budget is unimportant once the green flag is waved. Qualifying on Sunday will provide the launching pad for the missions of victory which will blast off on Monday (25th). We will wait no more, qualifying begins tomorrow (Sunday,24th )! Any predictions?
Nb. Blog 2 will be posted after qualifying on Sunday.
