Let me begin by saying THANK YOU to ATL Automotive Racing and Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore for what they have brought to circuit racing in Jamaica thus far. Ask anyone who has been attending events at Dover over the years and they will tell you, that the crowd present on Easter Monday was the largest that they have ever seen at the venue.
If I had the financial resources required, just to show my appreciation, I would be at the dealership mating ink and paper for one of those BMW M3- slaying Audi monsters. Adam was driving a rather sleek model on Monday.
Dover’s expanded parking area exceeded capacity, cars were parked on either side of the road leading to the Big Tree next to the main road, parking continued along the main road and into communities leading to Runaway Bay! I was at the gate occasionally and tickets were sold out from minutes after 1pm!
You do not need a University-based research to conclude that the interest the DTM Audi sparked and the expected regal showdown between David ‘King’ Summerbell Jr and Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore were directly responsible for the emptying of Jamaican homes on Easter Monday!
Fans were swept away by waves of turbocharged and naturally aspirated combustion as soon as the first green flag unfurled. The action on track was pleasurable to an infinite degree. This was the first race meet featuring the new look bracket race classes and fans were kept on the edge of whatever they were sitting or standing on, as drivers expressed themselves with a fiery, competitive spirit which led to several collisions, near misses and a few off track excursions. Spectacular stuff!
The expected confrontation between the two heavyweights, David Summerbell Jr and Doug Gore, created monumental rifts of jest and facetious conversation among fans. The battle lines resembled our tribal politics and neither side was willing to entertain defeat. When the cars took to the track for Event #4 on the schedule, the first race involving the 2 protagonists, the upper limit on the decibel meter succumbed to multiple wounds as the verbal jostling rattled eardrums.
I need more time to let it all sink in – the discourse will continue.

We did not see 1/2 of the potential of this machine.

Cannot hide my bias – I still love the Civic R.
TSR attack the machine after victory #1
There is so much to say about the Easter Carnival of Speed. Stay connected! Thanks again, ATL Automotive Racing.
