I have always loved buying gifts for others regardless of the occasion. Due to recent financial constraints however, the joy of buying gifts has somewhat lessened.
There are many special days marked on the calendar in which it is customary to buy gifts to show appreciation.
So I was faced with a dilemma, should I forgo the pleasure I experience when I buy gifts or should I sink into debt as I try to maintain the quality of gifts I usually buy?
Well, neither option appealed to me so I was determined to find a way to continue buying gifts that were meaningful but did not break my budget.
So that meant heading to the discounted section of the store. I discovered that sale items can often be used to create your own gift baskets instead of purchasing pre-made baskets which are typically more expensive.
The only problem I encountered when I tried to find gifts in this section was that some of the items available seemed poorly made. I also realized that being on a budget might limit how many gifts I would be able to purchase.
What makes a good gift?
The purpose of giving gifts is to show appreciation and that does not come with a price tag so here are some ideas that won’t break the bank.
Gifts that cost under $1000
If you are really strapped for cash you can be creative and write poetry, offer to cook a favourite meal or give home pedicures/manicures to show appreciation to others.
