I know I have been vocal about bad customer services on this blog but I have had good experiences as well. So I decided to review the good practices of these businesses in an effort to encourage others to follow their good example.
Often government workers have a bad reputation of being slow and inefficient however on a visit to a government office recently I was greeted with efficiency and quick service.
The government office I visited was The National Insurance Scheme (N.I.S.) offices on Ripon Road in Cross Roads. The personnel were pleasant and I was pleasantly surprised at the short time it took to complete the transaction.
The other customers who I spoke to the waiting are said they had a similar ease whenever they visited the office.
Why was the service so efficient?
In my opinion, there seemed to be a system in place that allowed employees to switch stations. The first person I spoke to at the desk was replaced within ten minutes by another person and I collected the card from yet another employee.
This system seems to help ease the flow as customers are not kept waiting for a long time before they are given attention.
The second company I want to mention is Scotiabank. Now banks are notorious for having interminable wait periods. Customers often grumble about the inadequate number of tellers or the slow movement of the lines.
I found though that Scotiabank personnel are extremely helpful to their customers. I recently witnessed a customer at the bank shouting and gesturing at a teller at whom she was obviously upset.
The security guard at the bank even started to approach her but he was waved away by the teller.
In a calm and respectful tone, the teller explained to the customer the policy of the bank and was able to placate the customer and soon the line was moving again.
So what was so great at the bank?
Yes the lines were long but the employees listened to their customers and showed them respect!
Have you had any great customer experiences? Let me hear from you!
