Rally Jamaica: Inspect my ride – Scrutineering Day

Author : cmunroe

If you are still in denial, thinking that Rally Jamaica 2011 is a figment of a delusional mind, a visit to Knutsford Court Hotel on Ruthven Rd may create an eye-opener. If you are a competitor that trip (to Knutsford Court Hotel) is unavoidable.

Competitors who intend to leave their machine’s  abusive tyre tracks, irrevocably embedded in the reluctant gravel stages which will assume prominence on Saturday and Sunday will subject their machines to their first test on Thursday (1/12/2011).

On the Schedule of Events, the organizers of Rally Jamaica 2011, have indicated that Thursday is Scrutineering Day. Between the hours of 9 in the forenoon and 5 in the afternoon, machines of all sizes, classes and groups will be examined, without favor, to ensure that the rules and regulations governing the sport and the various classes are adhered to.

So as I said at the onset, if you are still in doubt, pass through the car park  on Ruthven Rd, between the hours stated and you may just see your favourite driver sweating bullets as his machine goes under the microscope!

Once the mundane examination is over, the dress parade follows in New Kingston, Friday afternoon. The pop and crackle fun of tuning technology and the sonorous sounds so generated take center stage on Saturday and Sunday.

While we await this years rendition of the dust, oranges, mud and glory, which are all linked to Rally Jamaica, I request your attention, rather briefly. Here are two delightful slices of the Rally Jamaica cake!
