Dover Raceway: Rain+motor racing = Mountains of excitement!

Author : cmunroe

Ask and it shall be given. That is what we are told in the good book. From October of last year, impatient motor racing fans have been asking for a dose of their drug to satisfy their single addiction. It is understood that the motorsports pharmacy does not conform to the wishes of the common man and as such, the request, however urgent and sincere, would not be honored until the day designated for rest and relaxation in April -Easter Monday.

The day came, the machines were in their most potent race-tuned trim and the fans were looking forward to the resumption of the excitement-inducing union of the various classes of men and their fast machines, all competing for supremacy. We have a tendency of seeking divine intervention before we proceed at any given function or event and apparently, the heavens impressed with the reverence of the populace, saw it fit to bless theĀ  weekend’s proceedings with showers (rain).

I made more than enough plans to witness the 2012 season opener at Dover Raceway, but fate had other ideas. My absence has removed my own personal perspective, but, fortunately, I can examine a lot of the video footage that is available. Easter Monday’s results have confirmed two things that I already knew : 1) The TA1 vs Audi TT-R debate is nowhere near a definite conclusion and 2) Rain separates the men from the boys (rain – theĀ  great equalizer).

I have seen 2 relevant videos. One may reveal a few things about TA1 and the Audi TT-R and the other summarizes the drama which revved up mountains of excitement in the hearts of the faithful who ignored the weather and went to the temple of speed -Dover Raceway!

Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore (or someone from the camp using his user name) introduced us to the video below – the Audi’s perspective of the events which unfolded on Easter Monday.
