Circuit Racing: David ‘King’ Summerbell’s ruthless display (video)

There is not much debate about which race-meet is the most anticipated for the year. Race fans will willingly agree that the CMRC race-meet (held in May) is the ‘must-see’ race meet. The Independence race-meet, according to JRDC President, Marck Carey, is the one which usually draws a significantly smaller crowd, when compared to the others. Again, no debate required, the available figures tell the tale.

Despite the reported diminished number in attendance in the past, at the Independence race-meet, the quality of competition and the level of preparedness of the drivers and their machines are never questioned. Drivers fight ‘tooth and nail’ for every bit of advantage-grabbing asphalt and the close battles waged through the grid, in the different classes, ensure that attendance is never regretted. On the contrary, I am willing to bet anyone who is a ‘doubting Thomas’, that riveting, crowd-pleasing races, will be in constant supply at this weekend’s race-meet at Dover.

Financial wisdom has forced the JRDC to hurry the green flag and the machines will be released on the weekend – Sunday the 29th of July- instead of the usual date in August. Previously feasting horses will be saddled. They (the horses) will be forced to honor the logic which drove their acquisition and they will power the machine within which they reside with reckless abandon, as they seek to claim the only worthy prize – P1!

For a ruthless display from uncaring horses, inflicting shameless blows on the opposition, watch the ‘King’ at work in the video below and bear this in mind – similar performances should be expected at Dover this Sunday.
