Peter ‘Zoom Zoom’ Rae needs no introduction. He is more than familiar with victory lane, but the current era and the Evo invasion, have threatened to relegate the man, better known for the machine referred to as the ‘Pocket Rocket’, to an also ran.
Motor racing, however, like society is dynamic. Change is a constant feature and if you have been to Dover Raceway recently, Peter Rae’s performance, behind the wheel of his Mazda RX7, could not have escaped your pupils!
This machine -1…
and 2
Is now this machine.
The pace of the machine has stepped up and the speed built within, has been evident at the recent race-meets. Its asphalt-distorting speed became abundantly clear at the CMRC Round 1 held in May. On the start-finish straight and piling on the revs to corner 1, there is not much separating the ‘big guns’. Unfortunatley for Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore, Peter Rae’s tutorial came at a high cost. A defiant Peter Rae, supported by a responsive motor, possibly surprised Doug Gore at the most recent race-meet and the rest they say is history (the Audi went soul searching in the infield).
Peter Rae is apparently smelling outright victory now. The scent has filled his nostrils and the intoxication so derived has provided requisite motivation to lead a coup. According to reports, the Mazda RX7 has benefited from a carefully thought out improvement plan. Will Peter ‘Zoom Zoom’ Rae create problems for the King on Sunday?
