Politics, for the erudite, is said to be the art of making (difficult) decisions despite conflicting interests. To the regular man on the street, Jamaican politics is devoid of reason and only serves the interest of a selfish few. So it is now culture-correct, to label the cause of a spanner being thrown, into what was thought to be well laid plans, as simply ‘politics’.
I will make it abundantly clear that I do not have the information available, to describe accurately, what is responsible for the JMMC’s withdrawal of their stamp of approval from the event scheduled for Sunday at Vernamfield. Some may say it is ‘politics’ at work, but I am in no position to agree or disagree.
Despite the behind the scenes jostling, word is, the event will proceed but with minor modifications. A title change, a new resolve and racing is still on the cards for Sunday.
So, circuit racers and drag racers will be rehearsing Sunday. Petrol will explode in conspiring cylinders and rubber will attempt to transfer adrenaline-delivering power to fearful concrete, as drivers chase elapsed time.
I was actually looking forward to the Sprint event. My disappointment is multiplying by the second. It is an event I know the fans thoroughly enjoy. The 2 videos below will release the memories floodgate.

Ironshore Sprint – (Doug and Richie)
Call it what you will. Call it test, call it tune, but this is certain (weather permitting), racing will be at Vernamfield on Sunday!
