If you read and understood what was being said on these pages you would be blatantly aware that Nico Rosberg grabbing his first World Champion title was a foregone conclusion. We would have also been familiar with the view that Hamilton would not concede easily that which each F1 driver covets. He would not be Lewis Hamilton, triple F1 World Champion, if he was even willing to contemplate a defeat-inspired performance.

So as his internal script directed, Hamilton took the sand in Abu Dhabi, force-fed it and manufactured a storm-like performance in qualifying! Rosberg thought he was slammed by the blitzkrieg!

Hamilton snatching pole was no surprise. The writing was on the track for all to interpret – he was preparing for a firefight of Shock and Awe proportions!

With the weight of the world on his shoulders and in full view of former F1 World Champions, Mika Hakinen, Alain Prost and paparazzi darling Paris Hilton, Hamilton selected first and eased away with a rare, problem free start. When he exited corner 1 it was visible even to Ray Charles that Hamilton wore his no-nonsense helmet, but would his effort appease the head honchos of Mercedes AMG Petronas?
