RALLYSPORT : OGIER OFF TO A WINNING START!

Author : cmunroe

Ogier won the 2018 championship and walked away from M-Sport Ford. The intangible moments of obvious discomfort were evident at the final rally. M-Sport knew what they had and as such they were fully aware of what they were losing and what Ogier’s departure meant.

CITROEN

Ogier returned to Citroen and automatically Citroen’s stock on the WRC stage rose significantly. Neuville, in 2018, was a terrier at Ogier’s heels, Ogier rarely had extensive leisure periods – Neuville and the I20 kept him at full rev!

Hyundai dipped into the driver-market – for the 2019 campaign, rally genius – the victory-boss – Loeb was included in the family – everyone gunning for Ogier.

It was suggested in an earlier blog that Loeb will be Ogier’s first test. Well, at the Monte Carlo rally, Loeb was definitely a threatening factor, but, the defending champion was pushed relentlessly by his tenacious arch-rival,  Neuville.

The confrontation shredded nerves and when the clock stopped at the end of the final stage, the margin of victory was less than the time it took to read this sentence!

So, if you all thought Ogier needed seat time before the victories appeared, you were wrong. The man has a jaw-dropping streak – six consecutive victories while revving three different machines!

Neuville and everyone else will have to step up or cremation may be on the horizon!

OGIER STRIKES FIRST!
