JMMC Dexterity
The phrase – Rain no play – is usually linked to cricket. Motorsports is rarely, terminally affected by rain, except for example, NASCAR, but when a shower multiplies and becomes a deluge, it may do a bit more than dampen the proceedings!
The JMMC dexterity that was scheduled to be staged at Badda Badda Raceway, Priory, St. Ann, on Sunday (16th ), was postponed due to exuberant showers. The rain had its way with the dirt track and as rivulets became raging streams, Badda Badda succumbed. It is now Worst!
As soon as I have a new date for the much touted event, which I was actually looking forward, to I will gladly pass it on.
Goodwood Revival
If you owned a race car that was raced by Lewis Hamilton, would you bring it to the track and flog the retired pistons out of it? If your timeless race car was valued at US 1 million plus dollars, would you allow another race car to blast by its front wheel?
Okay, the 2 questions above would be rhetorical for most of us. A resounding NO would be the most popular response. Fortunately the weather in sections of Europe pulverizes the brain of the wealthy and coerces them to reveal their coveted race cars and traverse sane borders by racing them!
At the Goodwood Revival, the race titled the Tourist Trophy gives life to world championship sports cars and GT cars from 1960-1964. We are talking about – ‘money cant buy’, exotic, ‘I wont sell’ machines! The field is riddled with Ferraris and Jaguar E-Types! Turning from left to right on the formation lap, are Ferrari 250GTOs, several Jaguars ( E-type, Lightweights), AC Cobras, Shelby Daytonas and Aston Martins (DB4GT). An ultra-expensive starting grid!
The drivers guiding the machines, are for the most part, a mix of past and current world class drivers, such as Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jack Brabham and Alan Mcnish.
As I watched, I was amazed, impressed, thoroughly entertained, but convinced that Europeans are psychotic! The machines were being revved and flung mercilessly without consideration given for their ‘more than you can afford’ price tag. Machines worth ‘a trailer load’ of Donald Trump money were being driven as aggressively as the track and their aging components would allow. Relive the past – Goodwood Revival!
