‘Making it rain’ is a good thing in hip hop circles (the act of throwing money in the air so it falls like rain) but, as Badda Badda Raceway found out last weekend, rainfall in continuous amounts, may put the brakes on an event quicker than the air brakes on a Mack truck!
One man’s poison is another man’s main course. Rain was an unwelcome guest last weekend, but this Sunday (23rd ), if it rains at Pines Plaza, Junction, St Elizabeth, it will be greeted with a hail of shredded rubber.
Pines Plaza will receive the rain with umbrellas closed, as it hosts the drifting/gymkhana/autocross event, Slippery Wen Wett – The Liquid Nitro Trilogy. If what the promoters of the event, Scott’s Auto, has planned materializes, then fans of this series, from all over ‘the rock’, may need to travel with mini bottles of oxygen, as clutch/ hand brake induced oversteer takes their breath away!
Maurice Whittingham
The usual suspects, Maurice Whittingham, ‘Cutta Hype’ and company will be in the building and if you are not in the know, as it relates to their electrifying abilities behind the wheel, I recommend a trip to Youtube.
It never hurts to indulge a bit, so if variety appeals to you, these 3 ‘name brand drivers’ – Richie Rerrie, Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore and Junior ‘Fletty’ Barnes, should raise the bar a notch or two.
Information drifting in, suggests that no wheel will be left unturned to guarantee an unforgettable experience. A high standard has been established by previous events at the location and the Mo’bay led invasion will go slideways all day, in never before seen fashion, as they continue to explore their twisted version of the drift culture. If it rains, don’t be surprised if someone attempts to drift between the raindrops!
